THE CENTER FOR AUTISM FACT SHEET
- Founded in 1955 by Bertram A. Ruttenberg, M.D.
- The oldest specialized autism treatment center in the nation
- Pioneered non-verbal therapeutic approaches such as music therapy, movement therapy and sensory integration.
- A private, non-profit organization that focuses on treating individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Offers year-round services to children, adults and families throughout the Delaware Valley
- Translates and incorporates new research findings into programming and treatment and tailors treatment options to individual needs
- Provides the following services:
- Specialized Autism Services (SAS)- Intensive, comprehensive programs that are specifically designed to meet the individual needs of our clients and their families. These include SAS for Preschool-aged Children, SAS for Early Assessment and SAS for Social Competency.
- Family Support Services- Services that give the families of our clients access to a professional consultant who provides the resources and tools needed to continue treatment outside of the Center.
- Individual Outpatient Therapy- A treatment program designed to provide therapy to all age groups.
- Evaluation Services- A comprehensive evaluation service that includes psychiatric clinical observation and standardized testing components for diagnostic clarity.
- Training Services- Workshops and seminars on the assessment and intervention techniques for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Provided to individuals and organizations upon request.
