What Is Autism?

THE CENTER FOR AUTISM FACT SHEET

Founded in 1955 by Bertram A. Ruttenberg, M.D.
The oldest specialized autism treatment center in the nation
A private, non-profit organization that focuses on treating individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders
Offers year-round services to children, adults and families throughout the Philadelphia region
Translates and incorporates new research findings into programming and treatment and tailors treatment options to individual needs
Provides the following services:

Treatment programs for children ages 2-5 and 6-15 years old; Indvidual Outpatient Therapy to individuals of all ages
Family Support Services- Services that give the families of our clients access to a professional consultant who provides the resources and tools needed to continue treatment outside of the Center.
Evaluation Services- A comprehensive evaluation service that includes psychiatric clinical observation and standardized testing components for diagnostic clarity.
Professional Consultation- Workshops and seminars on the assessment and intervention techniques for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Provided to individuals and organizations upon request.
