“As a pioneer in the industry, the Center has a great opportunity to help a region affected by a critical lack of autism services,” said Jean Ruttenberg, executive director of the Center for Autism. “However, the limited capacity of our former building prohibited us from significant growth in the past. The Philadelphia Health Care Trust’s investment enabled us to lease a new facility. With the community’s support, we can advance our commitment to serving more individuals and families affected by autism.” Taking advantage of the opportunity to serve the greatest number of individuals, the Center will continue to serve over 40 children and families through satellite programs at the Conshohocken Avenue site until August 2009. At that time, we look forward to opening a satellite in another area of Philadelphia, and continuing to accomplish the objectives outlined in our five-year strategic plan.
“The Philadelphia Health Care Trust recognizes the positive impact the Center for Autism has had on area families for over 50 years,” said Bernard Korman, chairman of the Philadelphia Health Care Trust’s board of directors. “Our enthusiasm stems from the greater contribution the Center can provide by expanding its services to reach a larger community. We welcome the opportunity to help the organization achieve its future goals.”
