Child Psychiatrist

The job of the Child Psychiatrist is to provide psychiatric oversight to the Center’s programs and services. The Child Psychiatrist Consultant reports to the Executive Director. Specific responsibilities include:

• Psychiatric Evaluations, Assessments and Discharge Summaries
• Provide Individual and Family or Collateral Psychotherapy
• Score Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales
• Review and approve client treatment plans
• Provide psychiatric consultations as member of treatment team
• Participation in treatment team meetings
• Participate in Center-sponsored research projects
• Medication management
• Follow-up recommendations on evaluations for Center clients
• Consultation regarding diagnostic changes
• Calling parents when diagnosis changes
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director

Education Requirements
• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy in the U.S. or have a valid M.D. from a foreign school of medicine and have passed the ECFMG exam
• Completed an internship from an accredited graduate medical education program recognized by the AMA (LCME) or AOA
• Have a valid and current PA medical license for the practice of psychiatry
• Completed a psychiatric residency in an accredited residency program and be board certified or eligible in Child Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
• Have a valid and current DEA certificate number
• Possess a minimum of professional liability coverage of $1,000,000/occurrence and $2,000,000/aggregate; or $200,000/occurrence and $600,000 aggregate and participate in the PA Catastrophic Fund

Mental Health Therapist: Full-Time and Part-Time Positions

The Center for Autism is seeking to fill temporary/summer, part-time (Mon-Thurs, 4:30 – 8:00pm or Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs, 4:30 – 8:00pm) and full-time Mental Health Therapist (MHT) positions. The MHT is responsible for direct therapy with children enrolled in the Center’s daily Specialized Autism Services Program (SAS).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Implement intervention strategies with clients
• Demonstrate initiative and responsibility for pursuing therapeutic resources for clients in accordance with the Center for Autism’s mission statement
• Completes daily billing information
• Completes daily data collection
• Maintains physical environment to ensure clinical interventions and client safety
• Complete daily sheet for client
• Complete incident/injury reports
• Participate in team meetings
• Share responsibility for maintaining team meeting documentation
• Maintain effectiveness in response to various situational demands
• Other duties as assigned by supervisors or Executive Director

Education & Experience
Minimum requirements for the position:
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in an area of human services, which includes but may not be limited to the following: psychology, social work, counseling, criminal justice, and/or marriage and family therapy, and, a minimum of one (1) year direct care experience or one year supervised practice in lieu of the experience requirement.
Or
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in any area plus two years of direct experience.

Family Consultant

The Family Consultant is part of multidisciplinary team providing services to clients and families receiving services at the Center for Autism. This individual provides in-home and center-based support, education, counseling, and referrals to appropriate outside resources to clients and families receiving services in the Specialized Autism Services programs (Day, evening and out-patient)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Establish an effective working relationship with each family recognizing that all parties have something valuable to contribute to the problem-solving process.
• Assess the strengths and therapeutic needs of the child in the context of his/her family
• Facilitate partnership with parents and/or other caregivers as members of the treatment team.
• Provide, in home or community setting, child-center, family-focused supportive services, education, advocacy as is agreed upon by the therapist and family aimed at helping each family come to terms with their child's diagnosis and implement treatment goals that are relevant to the home and/or community settings.
• Determine with the family and other professionals the clinical need for special evaluation and services that are beyond the scope of the Center's services. Such services might include referring a child/or family member for psychotherapy, case management or social services and other community resources.
• Collaborate with the family and other involved professionals to develop and implement intervention plans/ treatment goals for the provision of unified services and continuity of care between the center-based program and home to the child and family
• Participate in planning for transition to school for Clients approaching kindergarten age, including educating parents about the transition attending the IEP meeting to support parents.
• Observe and interact with each child on assigned caseload and collaborate with the child's treatment team to keep abreast of progress in Center based program and to obtain information that will assist in developing effective intervention strategies for the home/community environment.
• Review treatment plans with parents and obtain parental input about the treatment plan.
• Share progress at home with treatment plan team.
• Facilitate Treatment Plan Review meetings, as scheduled.
• Represent parents at treatment plan meetings when parents are unable to attend.
• Develop, implement and participate in all educational and therapeutic activities aimed at educating family members and including all family members in the treatment process.
• Provide support to Mental Health Therapists in program rooms, as assigned
• Attend trainings, as scheduled and read assigned materials
• Attend clinic meeting, as schedule permits.
• Participate in weekly Family Consultant Meetings
• Participate in weekly case conference meetings
• Attend staff meetings, as scheduled
• Other duties as assigned by supervisors or Executive Director

Education & Experience
Minimum requirements for the position:
1. Master’s Degree from an accredited program in an area of human services, which includes but may not be limited to the following: social work, psychology, counseling, and/or marriage and family therapy, and, a minimum of one (1) year direct care experience with the population currently being served (i.e.: children, adolescents and/or adults).

Program Aide

The Program Aide is responsible for the support of ongoing daily activities and the direct therapy with children enrolled in the Center’s daily Specialized Autism Services Program (SAS).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Supervise clients to ensure safety
• Interact with clients in nurturing and respectful way
• Implement the Center for Autism’s clinical philosophy by emphasizing the importance of individualized assessment and treatment planning
• Understand and interpret a client’s communicative intent and respond to it by intervening based on the child’s communication
• Initiate and maintain a shared experience with a client
• Maintain effectiveness in response to various situational demands
• Provide breaks for Mental Health Therapists
• Set-up and clean-up including cooking, sensory and art materials
• Organize, maintain and keep the kitchen, laundry and classroom area orderly
• Prepare sensory and visual support activities in collaboration with visual support staff
• Weekly shopping to purchase groceries and other essentials needed for program (when scheduled)
• Maintain supplies for first aid kits
• Request necessary supplies
• Drive the van as needed to support program
• Support staff in program rooms when needed
• Other duties as assigned by supervisors or Executive Director

Education & Experience

1. High-school diploma
2. Driver’s license

Team Leader

The Team Leader (TL) is responsible for direct therapy with children enrolled in the Center’s daily Specialized Autism Services Program (SAS). 

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Responsible for overall functioning of program and program environment as it relates to their program room and clients
• Continuously assess effectiveness of treatment interventions
• Responsible for planning, organizing, and maintaining physical environment of program room
• Shared responsibility for planning, organizing and maintaining of shared program spaces
• Responsible for treatment plan implementation
• Audit progress notes on a daily basis for billing purposes
• Ensure mentoring, modeling and accountability to new employees and team members without supervisor responsibility
• Facilitate and write weekly room activity schedule and distribute to Program Director for review, including special activities and field trips
• Submit orders for and maintain equipment for program room
• Ensure completion and accuracy of clinical assessments
• Coordinate with team to plan for coverage issues
• Ensure daily data is collected via the rating form, including comments
• Cover for billing in the absence of other staff
• Clearly communicate information to team, supervisors and families
• Complete weekly reports regarding events in the program room and with the children
• Participate in interview/hiring process
• Participate in team meetings
• Complete assessments and data collection
• Other duties as assigned by supervisors or Executive Director

Education & Experience

Assistant Director, Social Competency Program

The Assistant Director is responsible for implementing and monitoring the treatment of clients enrolled in The Center for Autism’s Social Competency program. The Assistant Director is also responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of mental health therapists, mental health professionals and program aides.

• Ensure and monitor the quality, implementation, and integrity of the Social Competency program,
• Supervise the delivery of treatment services/activities (assessment, implementation, and documentation) based on the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Social Competency program,
• Continuously review the clinical model to ensure that it is meeting the needs of ASD individuals.
• Interview and hire MHT & MHP positions and program aides,
• Directly supervise MHT & MHP positions and program aides,
• Identify training needs and make certain that staff receives appropriate education/training that ensure that they have the tools necessary to effectively implement a quality program,
• Work to instill a sense of teamwork and commitment to a common goal,
• Institute efforts to continuously boast staff morale,
• Work with administrative team to identify and implement staff development and retention initiatives.
• Ensure program compliance with Department of Public Welfare and Community Behavioral Health regulations, policies, and procedures (HIPPA),
• Ensure program compliance with The Center for Autism’s policy and procedural guidelines,
• Ensure program compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Attend community and regional meetings and events.

Education and Experience
Minimum requirements for the position:
• Master’s Degree from an accredited program in an area of human services, which includes, but may not be limited to the following: psychology, counseling, social work, and/or marriage and family therapy,
• Two – three (2-3) years direct care experience in autism,
• Board Certified in Behavior Analysis or BCBA eligible,
• One year management/supervision experience,
• Successful completion of identified application process for Program Coordinator,
• Participation in and completion of all mandatory in-services,
• Participation in at least ten (10) hours of documented additional in-services,
• Act 33 & 34 clearances.

Preferred Qualifications
• Excellent leadership skills and experience working as part of and guiding a team, experience in developing consensus,
• Experience at developing and ensuring compliance with clinical and administrative policies and procedures,
• A thorough knowledge of Autism Spectrum disorder typical child development, and family focused approaches to treatment.

Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all of the Center’s property including but not limited to general facility maintenance, repair of buildings, construction projects, equipment, and all other assets. Authorize, coordinate and schedule work with vendors and contractors. Investigate and respond to customer requests and complaints, inspect contractor and vendor work for compliance and identify unsafe and hazardous conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure all properties are inspected on a daily basis to ensure building operations are performing according to the Center’s standards and procedures.
• Authorize, coordinate and schedule work with vendors and contractors and manage contractors providing work on site. Inspect contractor and vendor work for compliance.
• Prioritize day-to-day facilities operations.
• Provide excellent communication to Center employees to ensure proactive approach to issues and timely response to reported problems.
• Assist with meeting annual expense budget.
• Oversee the security system and card access.
• Work with departments and Human Resources to seat new employees.
• Ensure that emergency evacuation procedures are in place and life safety systems are operating effectively.
• Perform accident investigations; develop/ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations and guidelines for safety procedures and protocols, including handling of hazardous materials, workplace injury, illness prevention, environmental health and safety.
• Provide leadership and direction for all Facility personnel.
• Oversee all preventative maintenance programs. Evaluate operations and maintenance needs; equipment replacement requirements; and cost effectiveness of programs, equipment, and procedures. Review and understand all service contracts.
• Coordinate all services and purchases to be in accordance with specific spending guidelines. Seek out competitive bids for existing and new services to ensure we have the best vendor for the price point. Assure that appropriate insurance requirements and contracts are in place for all properties. Schedule integration of various vendor services to optimize efficiencies and minimize service disruptions. Participate in review of vendors in terms of contracted output requirements and recommends corrective measures and/or termination of non-performing vendors.
• Operate Maintenance Vehicle.

Education & Experience
• Minimum five years property maintenance and light construction experience.
• 3-5 years facility maintenance at a 100+ person site experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel a plus

Required Knowledge of:
• HVAC systems.
• Plumbing and roofing.
• Principles and practices of supervision.
• Blueprint and schematic drawings.
• Computer network and telephone system cabling methods.
• Construction and project management methods and principles.
