"Tariq continued to be hard to manage at school and at home. He would not sit still. His batteries never seemed to need recharging. It wasn't until he nearly was six years old that I could accept his placement at The Center for Autism. There he was exposed to a developmental approach and I was fortunate to meet Doctor Bert Ruttenberg, a child psychiatrist who had spent the last 45 years working with children with autism.
